Introducing

Sof-Touch™ Training Safety Leash
Patent # 5873328
from BehavioRx™ Systems

If you can stand still, you don't need skill!
The Sof-Touch™ system makes the pup or adult dog teach itself!

Sof-Touch Training LeashLet the dog correct rather than punish it! To correct leash
straining:

When the dog gets ahead while walking (just before the elastic begins to stretch), you just stop, stand still and hold the leash firmly to your hip. The dog will stretch the Sof-Touch, then ease up. You say "Good dog!" to reorient the dog to you... (The instant praise reinforces the orienting reflex which was triggered by the Sof-Touch resistance on its collar.)

Every normal dog has a built-in reflex to resist against the direction of
physical force on its body. It's automatic-they don't even think about it!
When a standard leash tightens suddenly and forcefully, the dog
unconsciously pulls against the force. However, the Sof-Touch™ Training Leash gets taut gradually-so the amount of force on the dog's collar is very slight...hence, the dog's resistance is weak. Even if the dog continues to forge, the leash gets taut gradually, not suddenly. There are no surprises...and the risk of whiplash is virtually eliminated. Because the dog has time to adjust, the Sof-Touch™ Training Leash is an ideal
operant conditioning program! Most dogs stop forging without any corrections! And it works with all kinds of collars, halters and harnesses!

A moderate jerk-release correction on a standard leash can impact the dog's neck with 15 pounds
of concentrated mass traveling at 33 feet per second...the equivalent of a violent karate chop! The
Sof-Touch Leash cuts the initial impact of even the most severe leash-pop correction to less than 16 ounces! The ingenious, gradually diminishing elastic action acts as an impact-limiter, sending a message that the leash will soon become taut if the dog doesn't ease the pressure by adjusting its
own behavior.

Here are some alarming facts from a recent survey:*
- 63% of the dogs examined had neck and spinal injuries.
- 65% these dogs had some kind of behavior problems; but only 30% of normal dogs had behavior problems.
- 78% of the dogs with aggression or over-activity problems had neck and spinal injuries.
- Of the dogs with neck injuries, 91% had experienced hard jerks on a leash or strained on their
leashes.

Correct Rather than punish! To correct leash straining:

Picture 1When the dog gets ahead while walking (just before the elastic begins to stretch), a quick jerk-release of less than four inches of hand travel is given...(The elastic doesn't fully stretch) the quick jerk-release is followed by an instant "Good dog!" to reorient the dog to the trainer... (the instant praise reinforces the orienting reflex which was triggered by the soft tug on the collar-the orienting reflex interrupts the dog's on-going mental activity)...

The trainer can then further reinforce the orientation with a secondary reinforcement by thigh-slapping, crouching, running backwards, offering food, or even use 'clicking'...

Picture 2If the dog continues to forge, the trainer merely stands still - allowing the elastic to stretch to its limit...when the leash becomes taut, the dog will usually ease-up the pulling by itself...(when the ease-up starts to occur, a "Good dog!"reward is spoken - even if the elastic is still slightly stretched)...

Picture 3Finally, when the dog has learned its lessons, the Sof-Touch™ elastic is instantly removable, leaving a six-foot competition-ready nylon web leash!
