Every pet owner, whether or not knowledgable about animal behavior, at some time has a problem with their dog or cat; the first usually centers on house training a puppy or kitten, often followed or accompanied by that irksome, playful aggressive nipping, which is a normal part of canine behavioral development. However, when this emerging aggression is handled incorrectly, dangerous emotional seeds are sown. These erupt most often into overt aggression toward outsiders or the dog's own human family members. The BEHAVIORx series is 34 remedial behavior programs based on Bill Campbell's 32 years' of study of pet canine and feline behavior and experience, consulting professionally with pet owners, first at the Canine Behavior Center in West Los Angeles, at his own practice at Sun Valley Ranch's Dog Owner's Guidance Service in San Fernando Valley, and in Grants Pass, Oregon, where he and Peggy now reside. Most of the behavioral systems were first published in Modern Veterinary Practice magazines during the 1970s, in his internationally distributed books, "Behavior Problems in Dogs," 3rd. ed. (1999) and in the New "Better Behavior in Dogs," A Guide to solving all your dog problems, (Direct Books - (800) 776-2665). The latter was also published in French and Japanese versions. The programs available here are updated with new techniques as they are researched, field-tested with real owners and pets and designed for publication. The unique aspect of Campbell's techniques is its holistic approach, dealing with both the causative factors and the overt problem behavior. Most behavior experts and trainers agree that most problem dogs are the result of problems in the way the owner interacts with the pet. The BEHAVIORx programs guide owners to appreciate that their pet's behavior is a response to the way they both perceive their mutual relationship. With this insight, people are motivated the make changes recommended that will place them (the owners) in the role of leader with the dog. Campbell's ability to explain the frustration felt by a dog that `thinks' he or she should be controlling daily family activities leads to remarkable changes in the behavior of dog owners.

The titles and a brief description of each program follow:
Adopting an Adult Dog or Puppy advises new owners how to manage the homecoming and first days of life with the new pet. It does not advise how to select the dog from a pound, etc.
Aggression to Owners deals with the dog that is showing emerging aggression by growling at its family, or has actually bitten family members. This includes guarding food, bones, toys, etc.Babies, New Pets and Dogs addresses the problem of introducing new babies or even adult humans, new dogs or cats into the life of an established pet dog. It takes the owner through the development of the baby, as crawling and toddling, etc. are undertaken by the child.
Barking deals with all kinds of vocalization except whining by new puppies and adult dogs.
Biting is concerned with aggression toward non-family members.
Carsickness shouldn't need any description!
Chasing Cars, Bikes, People, etc., shows how to handle this vexing problem safely and effectively.
Chewing as a destructive problem is a symptom of a frustrated dog. Causes and corrections outlined here and have been enlightening and immensely successful for millions of dog owners. Many experts in the field are using these techniques instead of applying the quick-fix of putting the dog in a crate or box all day and night.
Coprophagia, eating either his own or other dogs' stools is disgusting! Here's a way to solve it by treating both the causes and the revolting behavior itself.
Digging addresses yard excavations, digging in furniture, at doors, etc.
Escaping from the yard, house, etc., explains how to secure the environment and remove the reasons for escape behavior.
Fear/Phobias regarding storms, people, isolation-anxiety is another unique and highly successful program that succeeds in cases that may seem hopeless.
Feeding-Obesity, Stealing or Picky eaters all respond well to another approach that takes all the variables into account, dealing with them in ways that any owner can use successfully.
Fighting-Dogs or other animals is solvable when the owner applies leadership principles and patience.
Finding a Lost Dog has helped thousands through its canine common sense approach. Thinking like a dog usually finds a lost dog.
Housetraining is the number one problem, and this program achieves it in less than four days, in optimum circumstances... a bit longer in less desirable situations. However, it is achieved with puppies and even dogs 10 years or older when Campbell's total approach.is used---from diet and feeding schedules to teaching when and where to go and not to go `potty.'
Jumping Up- on people, furniture, etc., doesn't require a knee in the chest or harsh physical measures to correct. Dog-language does the trick quickly and permanently.
Killing Animals can be solved, if the owner takes control of the dog's emotional outlook toward other animals.
Obedience Training Primer prepares owners and dogs for a successful time at obedience class and a life time of obedience in everyday life at home.
Old Age-Blindness, deafness, incontinence, crankiness, etc., is a guide that has lengthened the span of a happy life together for dogs and their owners.
Overprotectiveness of family and/or property against outsiders can be changed from a potential biting situation to one in which the dog learns from the owner how to feel about visitors, etc.Pica is seen in dogs that eat rocks, wood, garments, and other non-foods. Again, its causes can range from boredom to isolation related anxiety. Once these are addressed, humane corrections will succeed.
Puppy Training for Come, Sit and Stay is a hands-off way to teach even 6 week old pups without a leash to respond willingly and instantly to the owner's commands. Once again, no force is required.
Selecting and Handling a new puppy is the landmark technique Campbell published in the veterinary literature in 1972 after 3 years of research and development. It really puts the owner in touch with the reality of the behavior of all the pups in the litter.
Self-Mutilation from licking or biting is another of those frustration-based problems. When the causes are corrected, the problem responds quickly.
Separation Anxiety: Explains what it really is and how to take effective steps to correct the causes behind it. Use it together with the appropriate Brochure for your dog's specific behavior; i.e. Chewing, Barking, House soiling, etc.
Shyness of People, places, objects needs understanding by the owners. This program builds the shy dog's confidence with amazing speed.
Submissive Wetting doesn't have to happen... if owners understand that the puppy of adult dog are not aware of the urination. Then, proper remedial steps bring quick, successful results.
Sympathy Lameness, though not a major problem for the dog, usually is a great problem for the owners. The solution is easier to bring about than most people realize.
Unruliness, such as dashing through doors, sniffing in embarrassing places, and generally acting "hyper," respond to controlled leadership.
Veterinary Health and Behavior explains the vital links between a dog's physical well being and its behavior. Most people don't realize that parasite larvae migrans can actually enter their dogs' brain and affect learning and general behavior.
Whining, either by puppies or older dogs is another of those anxiety-based problems. Find the cause and the behavior disappears.
Cats: Aggression often occurs when they are overstimulated by petting. This is a real eye-opener for owners whose cats attack them or others in the house.
Cats: Clawing and Suckling can mystify most people. The dynamics of remedial play and other measures saves lots of declawing surgery.
Cats: Housetraining a kitten or retraining older cats to the litter box responds nicely to a combined feeding-playtime plan.
Cats: Fighting Family Cats Fighting family cats is not an unsolveable problem. This new plan has succeeded in cases that the owners thought were hopeless. Take heart... peace can be with you.
